Dawn Starke is a self-taught, mixed-media artist and published illustrator with deep roots in the Austin area. Through the process of visualizing and interpreting her world, she seeks to better understand the human condition and herself. She loves to create visually rich, evocative, retrospective scenes and imaginative, make-believe worlds. Dawn’s paintings range from dramatic portraits to surreal landscapes, filtered through the lens of modernity - signage, advertising, pop culture, historical events and movements.
